Jeffrey P. Beard, “Jeff”, joined Toastmasters in July 1986. He eagerly stepped up into Club and District leadership roles, becoming Club President and an Area Governor for term 1987-1988. Jeff took a break from leadership a few years after serving, to complete his Toastmasters’ educational journey, enter speech contests and support several other Clubs he joined. Not long after, Jeff was back into leadership again serving as an Area Governor, 1994-1995 and moved up the ranks becoming the District Governor, 1997-1998. He earned his DTM in 1997.
Jeff is currently a 30-year member of Pearl City Toastmasters, a founding member of Laulima Toastmasters, a sponsor and founding member of Ho’oponopono Pa’ahao Toastmasters, and a sponsor and charter member of Carpe Diem Toastmasters, a prison Club in Eloy, Arizona, made up of Hawaii inmates.
Self-employed in Hawaii for 30 years, Jeff prides himself as a home repair and renovation specialist. He has taught Statewide employees for Home Depot such techniques as “trim and molding installation”. Jeff is also an ordained minister, and a licensed marriage practitioner in the State of Hawaii.
Outside of work and Toastmasters, Jeff enjoys running, swimming, bodysurfing, amateur photography, writing, playing music on guitar, keyboards, teaching music, reading and cooking! Unique to Jeff is that he has posed as a portrait model for the Honolulu Academy of Arts, dealt blackjack for an entertainment company, participated in fire walks, and is an experienced marathon runner; having run the last 12 Honolulu Marathons, as well as the San Francisco Marathon in 2007! He volunteered with the Honolulu Marathon Clinic, in 2006 -2007 and served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer in 2016.
